The Statewide Outcomes for Children Branch, Office for Children has its foundations in response to The Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005.

The Statewide Outcomes for Children branch is made up of three very different, but connected units working toward focusing the government and the broader community on improving things that matter to Victorian children and families.

The Statewide Outcomes for Children Branch is developing a comprehensive, across government, monitoring system which aims to monitor and report on the safety, health, development, learning and wellbeing of children and young people in Victoria.
In 2005 the Department of Human Services (Office for Children)-Municipal Association of Victoria Partnership Working Party identified the need to obtain an overview of the extent of local government involvement in early childhood services trough a survey. This report of the survey provides, for the first time, a snapshot of the many supports provided by local councils to families with young children.
CHILD OUTCOMES is a bulletin of the Statewide Outcomes for Children Division of DEECD. The bulletins are written for professionals and researchers across health, education, community services and government. Each issue will explore aspects of children's health, development, learning, safety and wellbeing, particularly where new information and data are available.
The state of Victoria's young people reports on how young people aged 12-24 are faring against the whole-of-government government outcomes framework, focusing on young people's health, economic wellbeing, learning, safety and community engagement.
On 10 April 2007, the Government released Victoria's Plan to Improve Outcomes in Early Childhood under the COAG National Reform Agenda.
The Commissioner provides advice to the Minister for Children on issues impacting on the lives of children, in particular vulnerable children.
