Responsibility for Early Childhood Programs rests within the Early Childhood Programs Division Branch within the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD).
The Early Childhood Programs Division's vision is that all Victorian children will have the best possible start in life. With a focus on children's rights, the Early Childhood Programs Division improves outcomes for children through responsible leadership across government and in partnership with families, communities, professionals and service providers.

Vera Scantlebury Brown Child Welfare Memorial Trust Scholarship for 2008. This is particularly relevant to people with an early childhood background. This scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for someone with early childhood qualifications to pursue furthur education or complete a research project of some sort.

Since 1 June 1998, the Children's Services Act 1996 (Act) has provided for the licensing and regulation of centre-based children's services, including centre-based long day care, creche, occasional care and stand alone kindergartens. The primary intent of the legislation is to ensure the safety and development of children attending children's services.
In 2006, the Department of Human Services is awarding five rural employment grants of $6,000 per eligible applicant. The rural employment grant is a one-off payment, awarded on an application basis to early childhood education graduates who commit to working in a rural kindergarten service for a minimum of two years.
